Food Not Bombs
Food Not Bombs is a non-profit organization, which serves food to anyone who is hungry on the streets. We also serve at certain events that may be happening in and around the community. We get surplus food donated to us through various grocery stores, food that would be thrown away. Our goal is to build a community that cares about others and wants to help others when others are in need. We feed the hungry because they are hungry; we do not deny anyone food for everyone deserves to eat. Food is a right, it is not a privilege and everyone deserves a bite.
The money spent by the world on weapons in one week is enough to feed all the people on Earth for a year. When millions of people go hungry each day how can we spend another dollar on war? If you feel that people need food more than bombs then we would like you to help out and join our organization. The next few years could profoundly change the world for generations and Food Not Bombs is working to make those changes positive for everyone.
We are starting a Harrisburg Food Not Bombs chapter and we need help from our community to feed the hungry people of Harrisburg. If you are interested in helping in anyway, or would like a list of things you could do to help, email me, Andrew LeVan at LeVanDrew88@riseup.net

Kapona
Every September ( Labor Day weekend ) you can enjoy the Harrisburg Kapona. The event runs along Front Street in Harrisburg with food vendors of every kind, bands and other entertainment. The fireworks are easily viewed from the banks of the Susquehanna River where there is plenty of area to spread out. There is ample parking in Harrisburg's parking garages and some street parking by the Capitol which is a short walk to Front Street.
